I work in a multi media collage based analogue format. Basically all this means is I cut and paste to create subjective works in an ecological, economical way. I prefer analogue collage, it’s purer to my intent both in context and content, the material must be original to have integrity. Original materials have a poetic emotional landscape not found in digitally reproduced media.
My paintings and assemblages are literally and figuratively layered to achieve a personal narrative while allowing an audience possible links to theirs. Sometimes my works look like 10 different people have had a hand in them. There is however a visual vocabulary layered into each one, built up over countless works and a lifetime of practice that link them to me. Each work needs to impart a narrative or image that changes that moment from unimportant to something memorable.
